Yuva is an Hindi word that translates to “young” in English. I chose this due to my firm belief that the young leaders of today, hold the power to change the future. This project is based around the importance of education on basic subjects that are not being talked about enough. Many young people our age often fear talking about something as simple as menstruation that everyone is aware happens, or how they have been having anxiety lately. This can lead to a toxic future for a young person, and we want to work towards having completely open conversations about matters that their family may not be willing to discuss, but we will. We want people to speak up and understand one another removing all the barriers society has set for us. We need to talk about several issues such as sexual assault in order to stop them from happening by discussing what one can do when in a situation like such. Talking to young children about good touch or bad touch, or telling a girl having her period is not something she should be embarrassed about, are the simple yet effective things we wish to do through these events.

Having the slogan be “a project by the young, for the young” really sums up what the execution of the process will look like. Having young students (such as myself) begin these conversations may inspire or comfort some of the others listening to us, in which case, our goal will be achieved.

The core objective of Yuva is to work together as a team to organize events, drives and more for matters we are passionate about and want to see change for. We wish to work with our core values in place, with only the hope of impacting somebody and beginning the process of the change we wish to see.
